📘 Is There a Standard Yearbook Page Count?

There is no single page count that works for every yearbook.

Your final page count should reflect the amount of content your school plans to include, such as:

  • Student portraits
  • Staff portraits
  • Clubs and organizations
  • Sports
  • Events
  • Academics
  • Student life
  • Advertisements
  • Index pages

The page count should support your coverage plan without requiring unnecessary filler or removing important content.

📐 What Page Count Rules Do I Need to Follow?

Your yearbook must contain at least 20 pages, and the final page count must be divisible by four.

Valid page counts include:

  • 20 pages
  • 24 pages
  • 28 pages
  • 32 pages
  • 36 pages

Continue increasing the page count in increments of four based on the amount of content included in your page plan.

🗂️ How Should We Determine Our Page Count?

Start by creating a page plan or ladder.

Assign space for each major section of the yearbook, then estimate how many pages each section will require. Your plan may include:

  • Opening and closing pages
  • Portrait sections
  • Sports and activities
  • Clubs and organizations
  • School events
  • Academic coverage
  • Advertisements
  • Index and reference pages

Once the sections are assigned, total the planned pages and adjust the final count so it is divisible by four.

➕ Should We Add More Pages Just in Case?

Additional pages may be useful when you already know that more content is expected.

Avoid adding pages only because another school uses a larger book. Extra pages still need to be designed, reviewed, and filled with relevant content.

➖ What If We Do Not Have Enough Content?

Review the page plan before removing pages.

You may be able to:

  • Combine smaller topics onto one spread
  • Reduce repeated coverage
  • Adjust the number of pages assigned to each section
  • Remove unused or unnecessary planned sections

The goal is to create a complete yearbook that reflects your school, not to reach a specific page count.

✅ What Is the Best Page Count for Our Yearbook?

The best page count is the smallest valid page count that provides enough space for the content your school intends to include.

Build the page plan first, total the required pages, and confirm that the final number is divisible by four.
