🅰️ Using Text Styles in Your Yearbook Project

Text Styles help keep headlines, captions, body text, and other text elements consistent throughout your yearbook. Instead of manually recreating the same formatting each time, you can create reusable styles that can be applied to text boxes throughout your project.

Text Styles can also be used to define the default formatting for new text elements added to the project.

✏️ Creating a Text Style

To create or manage Text Styles:

Open your yearbook project and select Advanced from the available options.

Select Text Styles.

The Text Styles menu will open. Enter a name for your style in the Enter Style Name field.

Configure the formatting for the style. You can select:

  • Font
  • Font size
  • Bold
  • Italic
  • Underline
  • Text alignment
  • Text color

To create additional styles, select Add Another Style and configure the new style.

Click Save when you are finished.

✏️ Editing Existing Text Styles

You can edit existing Text Styles in your yearbook project using either of the following methods.

Method 1: From the Text Editor

  • Select a text box on your page.
  • Click Apply Text Style in the left panel.
  • Below the list of available Text Styles, select Edit Text Styles.

The Text Styles menu will open, allowing you to modify your existing styles.

Method 2: From the Advanced Menu

  • Open the Advanced menu.
  • Select Text Styles.
  • The Text Styles menu will open, displaying the styles available in your project.

Updating Your Text Styles

Once you have opened the Text Styles menu using either method:

  • Locate the Text Style you want to edit.
  • Update the font, size, formatting, alignment, or text color as needed.

  • If desired, use the Default for New Text checkbox to designate the style as the default for newly added text.
  • Click Save to save your changes.

⚠️ Note: Only the project's Adviser and Sr. Editors can manage Text Styles.

⭐ Using Favorite Fonts with Text Styles

Fonts that you have marked as favorites are available when creating Text Styles.

When you open the font menu, your favorited fonts appear at the top of the font list, making frequently used fonts easier to access.

Font favorites are shared anywhere you can select a font within the project. For example, a font favorited while editing regular text will also appear as a favorite when creating a Text Style or selecting a font for spine text.

You can also favorite additional fonts directly from the Text Styles font menu.

✅ Setting a Default Style for New Text

A Text Style can be designated as the default for new text added to the project.

  • Next to the style name, select the Default for New Text checkbox.

  • Once selected, that style's formatting will automatically be used for new text elements added to the project.
  • Only the project's Adviser and Sr. Editors can set or change the default Text Style.

🎨 Applying a Text Style

To apply a Text Style to an existing text box:

  • Add a text box to your page and enter your text.

  • Select the text box.
  • From the left panel, select Apply Text Style.

  • Select the Text Style you want to use from the available styles.
  • Choose how you want to apply the Text Style from the popup menu.

  • The selected text box will update using the formatting defined by the Text Style.

  • Repeat the process as needed for other text boxes throughout your project.

🗑️ Deleting a Text Style

To remove a Text Style:

  • Go to Advanced > Text Styles.
  • Locate the style you want to remove.
  • Select the red trash can next to the style.

  • Save your changes.

Deleting a Text Style does not change text boxes where that style has already been applied.
