🅰️ Using Text Styles in Your Yearbook Project

Text Styles help ensure your headlines, captions, and other text elements stay consistent throughout your yearbook. Rather than manually formatting each text box, you can create and apply predefined styles for a cleaner, more efficient design process.

✏️ Creating Text Styles

To define your own Text Styles:

1. Add and format text on a page to determine the look you'd like for your style.
   
2. Take note of the formatting (font, size, color, etc.) for each text type (e.g., headline, caption).
   
3. From the Advanced menu on the right, click Text Styles.
   
4. In the Text Styles panel:
   
   • Give your style a name.
   • Choose a font.
   • Choose a font size.
   • (Optional) Apply bold, italic, or underline.
   • Set the text alignment.
   • Pick a text color.
5. To create additional styles, click “Add Another Style” and repeat the process.
   
6. To delete a Text Style, click the red trash can next to its name.
   
7. Click Save when you’re finished adding styles.

🎨 Applying Text Styles

To apply your custom styles:

1. Add a text box to your page and type in your content.
   
2. Select the text box.
   
3. In the left panel, click “Apply Text Style.”
   
4. A list of available Text Styles (created by you or Sr. Editors) will appear. Select the one you want.
   
5. Choose how you want to apply the Text Style in the popup menu.
   
6. The selected text box will update to match the formatting of the applied Text Style.
   
7. Repeat as needed for other text boxes across your project.

How many Text Styles can my project have?
As many as you’d like!

Who can create Text Styles?
Only the project’s Adviser and any Sr. Editors.

Who can apply Text Styles?
Any team member with permission to edit pages can use Text Styles.

Can I use Text Styles across multiple projects?
No. Text Styles are only available within the project where they were created.

How do I delete a Text Style?
Go to Advanced > Text Styles and click the trash can next to the style you want to remove. Deleting a style does not change text boxes where that style has already been applied.

⚠️ Current Limitations of Text Styles

Text Styles is a newer feature, and there are a few current limitations:

• You cannot see which style was applied to a text box after it's been applied.
• A Text Style applies to the entire text box, not selected text within it.
• You cannot create a new Text Style directly from a formatted text box.
• Text Styles are limited to:
  • Font
  • Font size
  • Bold / Italic / Underline
  • Alignment
  • Text color
    (Note: Shadow, stroke, and text spacing are not supported.)
• You can apply a style to one text box at a time only.
