Folder organization is not available in Section-based books.

✨ Overview

If your project was created using the Ladder format, you can organize your photos into folders and subfolders. This allows you to keep images structured by:

  • Grade level
  • Events
  • Sports
  • Portraits
  • Staff
  • Clubs
  • Special features

Using folders keeps your project clean, searchable, and easier to manage — especially when working with large image libraries.

🖼 Accessing Image Folders

1️⃣ From your project dashboard, click Photos in the left toolbar.

You will see the Folders section on the left side of the Photos panel.

➕ Creating a Folder

1️⃣ Click Add Folder
2️⃣ Enter a folder name
3️⃣ Click Add

Once created, your folder will appear in the folder list.

📸 Adding Images to a Folder

1️⃣ Click the folder you created
2️⃣ Click Add Photos
3️⃣ Choose your upload source
4️⃣ Select images
5️⃣ Click Upload

Images will now be saved directly inside that folder.

📂 Creating Subfolders

Subfolders help further organize content inside a main folder.

1️⃣ Click the folder
2️⃣ Click the plus (+) icon beneath the folder name
3️⃣ Enter a subfolder name
4️⃣ Click Add

Subfolders appear nested under the main folder.

✏️ Renaming a Folder

To rename a folder:

1️⃣ Click the folder
2️⃣ Click the pencil/notepad icon
3️⃣ Enter the new name

➖ Deleting a Folder

To delete a folder:

1️⃣ Select the folder
2️⃣ Click the minus (-) icon

📌 Important:
You cannot delete a folder that contains images.
All images must be removed before deleting the folder.

👁 Hidden Folders (Advanced Organization Feature)

When working with many folders, you may want to temporarily hide certain ones to clean up the workspace.

🔒 Hiding a Folder

1️⃣ Select the folder
2️⃣ Click the eyeball icon

The folder will now be hidden from view.

👁 Viewing Hidden Folders

Near the bottom of the Folders panel, under Add Folder, you will see:

Show Hidden Folders

If this option is enabled (illuminated), hidden folders will become visible.

To unhide:
1️⃣ Select the hidden folder
2️⃣ Click the eyeball icon again

🧠 When to Use Hidden Folders

Hidden folders are useful for:

  • Cleaning up portrait folders after placement
  • Reducing clutter for student editors
  • Simplifying contributor upload options
  • Organizing archived content

⚠️ Important Hidden Folder Behavior

Be mindful of the following:

  • Hidden folders are not visible to photo contributors
  • Contributors cannot upload photos into hidden folders
  • Users working in the project cannot access hidden folders from the media tray
  • Images inside hidden folders cannot be dragged onto pages while hidden

📌 Example:
If you hide a portrait folder while still designing staff pages, you will not be able to access those teacher images until the folder is unhidden.

🧩 Best Practice Tips

✔ Organize folders by section or grade
✔ Use subfolders for events or themes
✔ Hide portrait folders after portraits are placed
✔ Keep contributor-facing folders clean and simple
✔ Unhide folders before placing images on pages

🏁 Final Reminder

Folder organization in Ladder books is a powerful tool for keeping your yearbook project structured and efficient. Proper use of folders and hidden folders can significantly improve workflow, reduce clutter, and streamline collaboration.
