Add and Manage Backgrounds
Apply, customize, and reuse backgrounds across your pages.

🖼️ Overview
Backgrounds help enhance your page design by adding color, texture, or imagery behind your content. You can choose from preset backgrounds, solid colors, or browse the full background catalog.
➤ How to Add a Background
Click the Backgrounds tab to open the Backgrounds menu.
Choose one of the suggested backgrounds or select a solid color.
- To apply a suggested background, drag and drop it onto the desired page.
- To browse more options, click Find Backgrounds to open the full catalog.
Search for backgrounds by:
- entering keywords
- applying filters
Click a background thumbnail and choose where it should appear:
- Left page
- Right page
- Both pages
- All pages in section (Section books only)
Click Apply Background to confirm.
🗑 Removing a Background
You can remove a background in two ways:
Option 1
- Open the Edit Photo tab
- Click Remove Photo
Option 2
- Click the background directly
- Press Delete on your keyboard
⭐ Saved Backgrounds
When browsing backgrounds, you’ll see three tabs in the upper right:
Added by Team
Third-party backgrounds imported by team members.
In This Project
Shows all backgrounds currently used in the project. Helpful for reusing designs.
My Favorites
Backgrounds you’ve favorited. These:
are only visible to you
appear across all your projects
💡 Tip: Favorite a background by clicking the heart icon while hovering over it.
📁 Copy Background to Folder (Ladder Books)
If you want to use a background as a regular image element:
- Click the background in the browser.
- Select Copy Background to Folder.
- Select a Folder from the dropdown menu.

A copy will be saved to the selected folder so you can drag and place it anywhere on your page.
📁 Copy Background to Media Tray (Section Books)
If you want to use a background as a regular image element:
- Click the background in the browser.
- Select Copy Background to Media Tray.
A copy will be saved to your media tray so you can drag and place it anywhere on your page.

Using backgrounds strategically can unify your page design and reinforce your book’s theme while keeping layouts visually engaging and consistent.
