- Select Elements from the left navigation panel.
- Locate the Text element.
- Drag the Text element from the Elements panel onto the desired location on your page.

- Click inside the new text box and enter your text.

β Pro Tip

βοΈ Edit Text with the Text Toolbar

The toolbar provides quick access to:
- Font family
- Font size
- Increase or decrease font size
- Bold
- Italic
- Underline
- Text alignment
- Copy formatting
- Text color
- Eyedropper
- Reset toolbar position
To apply formatting to the entire text box, double-click inside the text box and make sure no individual words or characters are highlighted before changing the font, size, color, or other formatting.

If specific text is highlighted, formatting changes apply only to the highlighted text.

π Pro Tip
For the quickest whole-box formatting, double-click inside the text box, confirm that no text is highlighted, and then make your changes from the Text toolbar.
βοΈ Move the Text Toolbar
The Text toolbar can be positioned anywhere in the editor.
- Double-click inside a text box to open the toolbar.
- Locate the handle on the left side of the toolbar.
- Click and drag the handle to the desired location.

The editor remembers the toolbar position when the page is refreshed.
This allows you to keep the toolbar away from the portion of the page you are actively designing.

π Adjust Font Size
Use the font size dropdown to select a specific font size.

You can also use the + and β controls on the right side of the toolbar to increase or decrease the font size.

Font sizes increase in the following increments:
- Through 14: increments of 1
- Above 14 through 36: increments of 2
- Above 36: increments of 4
This provides more precise control at smaller font sizes while allowing larger text to be resized more quickly.
π¨ Change Text Color
Use the color control in the Text toolbar to change the selected text color:

- Use the color picker and sliders to choose a color or enter a Hex value.
- You can also use the eyedropper to select a color already being used elsewhere on the page.

- Use the Text toolbar to change the desired formatting property.

- Font family
- Font size
- Text color
Only the property you change is applied across the selected text boxes. For example, changing the font family updates all selected text boxes to that font while preserving their existing sizes and colors.

π Multiple Formatting Values
When the selected text boxes use different formatting, the toolbar indicates that multiple values are present.
For example:
- The font or font size field may display multiple.
- The text color control displays a multicolor swatch.
Selecting a new font, size, or color applies that setting to every selected text box.

π Reset the Text Toolbar Position

This restores the toolbar to its contextual position near the selected text.

π Resize a Text Box
- Select the text box.
- Locate the resize handles around the outside of the box.
- Click and drag a handle until the text box reaches the desired size.

Resizing changes the available area for the text and may cause the text to wrap onto additional lines.

- Select the text box.
- Locate the rotation handle above the box.
- Click and drag the handle to rotate the text box.

For more precise rotation, use the rotation setting under Coordinates in the Edit Text panel.

- Enter or adjust the available values.

The coordinate controls may include:
- X Coordinate: Controls the horizontal position of the text box.
- Y Coordinate: Controls the vertical position of the text box.

You can place a color behind the text inside a text box.
- Select the text box.
- Open the Background Color menu in the Edit Text panel.

- Select the checkbox to enable the background.
- Choose a color from the available color palette.

- You can also use the eyedropper tool to select a color already used elsewhere on the page.

π Add a Shadow
A shadow can help separate text from the background and make it easier to read.
- Select the text box.
- Select the Show Shadow checkbox in the Edit Text panel.

- Adjust the available shadow settings.

Shadow controls may include:
- Color: Changes the shadow color.
- Opacity: Controls the shadow's transparency.

π² Add a Text Stroke
A text stroke adds an outline around each character.
- Select the text box.
- Select the Show Text Stroke checkbox in the Edit Text panel.

- Choose a stroke color.
- Adjust the stroke thickness.

Text strokes can improve readability when text appears over a detailed photograph or a background containing several colors.
βοΈ Adjust Text Spacing
Open the Text Spacing dropdown menu in the Edit Text panel to change how the text fits inside the caption box.
Available settings include:
Character Spacing
Character spacing, also called tracking, controls the amount of space between individual characters.

Increase the value to spread characters farther apart. Decrease it to move the characters closer together

The images above compare wide character spacing with the default setting of 0.Β
Line Height
Line height, also called leading, controls the vertical space between lines of text.
This setting only affects caption boxes containing more than one line.

The images above compare 1.65 times leading with the default setting.
Stretch Width
Stretch Width changes the horizontal width of the text without changing the spacing between the individual characters.

The images above compare horizontally stretched text with the default setting.Β
Stretch Height
Stretch Height changes the vertical height of the text.

The images above compare vertically stretched with the default setting of 0.Β
β οΈ Note
Excessive stretching may make text difficult to read. Use the stretch controls carefully and review the final appearance at the intended page size.
π Change the Layer Order
When a caption overlaps another element, use the layer controls to determine which object appears in front.
Available options include:

- Send to Back: Places the caption behind every other element.
- Send Backward: Moves the caption back by one layer.
- Bring Forward: Moves the caption forward by one layer.
- Bring to Front: Places the caption above every other element.
