What color spaces (RGB formats) does Creator Studio support?
Learn which RGB color profiles are recommended for the best on-screen and printed color accuracy in Creator Studio.
Table of Contents
🖼️ For best results, Creator Studio recommends using the sRGB color space when uploading images. This helps ensure the most accurate and consistent color appearance across both digital proofs and printed yearbooks.
While Creator Studio may accept other RGB color formats, results can vary depending on the color profile used.
🌈 Recommended Color Profile: sRGB
sRGB is the industry standard color space for most web, digital, and consumer printing workflows. Using sRGB provides the most predictable results when viewing and printing images in Creator Studio.
Benefits of using sRGB include:
- More accurate color reproduction
- Better consistency between screen and print
- Reduced risk of unexpected color shifting
- Improved compatibility across browsers and devices
🎨 Using Other RGB Color Profiles
Creator Studio may accept other RGB color spaces, but color rendering may not appear as expected.
Adobe RGB
Adobe RGB images may display slight color differences compared to sRGB, though these differences are typically minor.
ProPhoto RGB and Wide-Gamut Formats
Wide-gamut formats such as ProPhoto RGB can cause significant color distortion both on screen and in print.
Potential issues include:
- Oversaturated colors
- Dull or inaccurate color rendering
- Unexpected print output
- Inconsistent proof appearance
We strongly recommend converting wide-gamut images to sRGB before uploading them into Creator Studio.
🖼️ Converting Images to sRGB
If your image uses a different color profile, you can convert it to sRGB using photo editing software such as Adobe Photoshop.
To convert an image to sRGB:
- Open the image in your editing software.
- Locate the color profile or color space settings.
- Convert the image profile to sRGB IEC61966-2.1.
- Save a copy of the file to preserve the original image.
🖨️ Print Color Information
Creator Studio printing uses a six-color Indichrome printing process.
Traditional printing typically uses CMYK:
- Cyan
- Magenta
- Yellow
- Black
Indichrome expands this process by adding:
- Orange
- Violet
This expanded color range allows printed books to produce more vibrant and accurate colors than standard CMYK printing alone.
⚠️ Soft Proofing Note
If you use soft proofing tools in photo editing software, preview results may differ slightly from the final printed product.
Because Creator Studio’s print process uses an expanded six-color system, print output may exceed the color range typically simulated by standard CMYK soft proofing profiles.
